Hitting Tips from Carlos #8: How to Load

"Hey guys, it's coach Garcia and today I am going to show you a few things that you could be doing wrong during your load. First of all, you want to make sure that you sync into your back hip regarding what you do with your front foot. If you like to do a leg kick or you only like to peel the front heel off the ground I want to coil during my negative move working down and around of my back leg thinking that my upper half is compressing my lower half screwing myself into the ground. Loading properly into my back hip is going to help me improve my negative move and gain momentum when I'm about to swing the bat. I want to feel that my hips are closing and working down showing my right butt cheek to the pitcher in case I'm a right handed hitter. After this I want to have my backside leading my stride toward the pitcher to pull the slack out of my body." - Carlos Garcia
